Introducing Archie Talley...

Archie Talley was born and raised in Washington D.C.  and then traveled to a small town in West Virginia to pursue his college dreams. From the challenges in his youth to the greatness at the height of his basketball career, Archie has amassed a lifetime of experiences to share.  He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Relations and a Masters Degree in Education from Salem College in West Virginia. Since 1984, Archie has been traveling the country at schools, events, civic and professional organizations as a Motivational Speaker.

Athletic Achievements:

  • Founder of the “Archie Talley Basketball Camp”
  • Associated Press College Division Basketball Player of the Year (1976)
  • First Team All American, Associated Press and NAIA (1976)
  • Leading College Basketball Scorer in the Nation with a 41.1 Points Per Game Average (1976)
  • All time leading collegiate basketball scorer in West Virginia History
  • All time single season scoring leader in NAIA history (1,439 points)
  • Third all time leading scorer in the history of college basketball (3,720 points)
  • Drafted by the New York Knicks – N.B.A. (1976)
  • Played with the world famous Harlem Globetrotters (1976)
  • Played with the New Jersey Nets – N.B.A. (1977)
  • Played Professional for ten seasons is Europe (1977-1984)
  • Scored 116 points in a single game in Germany (1978)
  • Inducted into the West Virginia Sports Hall of Fame (1988)
